Comfort, respect and dignity are all important aspects in maintaining quality of life when living with memory impairment. Care from a skilled, compassionate staff in a warm environment forms the foundation of our mission to treat every community member like family, making St. Monica’s Assisted Living the “next best thing to home.” We keep them safe so you can sleep at night.

We give our staff ongoing training in memory care. Our staff members are experienced—they’re used to seeing common behaviors of those with memory loss and our “Positive Approach to Care” philosophy means they know the best and most compassionate way to deal with those behaviors. They’re also up to date on the latest techniques for stimulating memory and cognitive function. We tailor our care to the needs of our seniors with memory loss. We’re able to do this because of our 1:6 staffing ratio, which means we have more staff members available per community member than many senior care communities.

When you take the time to tour our Memory Care facilities, you'll see the difference right away. Our Memory Care facilities are built to maximize natural light, with the usage of skylights, picture windows, and digitally managed lighting to reduce “sundowning” and maintain a soothing, positive atmosphere. Each community member will have a safe and comfortable private room and private bathroom, designed to prevent falls, and access to public areas, fireside lounges, and private party rooms.

We offer structured programs to improve thinking and memory. Our memory programs were created not just to improve cognitive function, but to promote fun and friendship. Some of our programs, presented by full-time Life Engagement staff, have included:

  • Exercises
  • Music and singing
  • Painting and crafts
  • Story time
  • Animal therapy
  • Puzzles and games

We also offer live entertainment, including orchestra performances, choirs, and string quartets.
In addition to the above amenities, families can rest assured that their loved one’s care will include the following care services, personalized for each community member:

  • Daily housekeeping and laundry services
  • Three delicious meals a day, with customization for dietary needs when possible
  • A variety of healthy and tasty snacks
  • As-needed assistance with dressing, personal care, etc., with a focus on independence
  • Visiting physician twice a month
  • Dementia care certification program that exceeds state standards
  • Around-the-clock licensed staff on-site with over 100 hours of training
  • Spacious, secure courtyard, landscaped to evoke a feeling of freedom
