As the blossoms begin to peek through the soil in Racine, Wisconsin, the spirit of the Easter season has officially arrived at St. Monica’s. This week, our Oak Lane Craft Club gathered for an afternoon of creativity, reflection, and fellowship to create beautiful hand-decorated crosses.
Crafting is a cornerstone of our life enrichment programming. Beyond creating something beautiful to hang on a door or display on a bedside table, these sessions provide essential benefits for our residents:
Fine Motor Skill Support: Hand-placing shimmering jewels and beads is a fantastic way for seniors to maintain dexterity.
Cognitive Stimulation: Choosing colors and patterns encourages creative decision-making and focus.
Spiritual Connection: For many in our Catholic-sponsored senior living environment, crafting a cross is a meaningful way to prepare the heart for the Easter holiday.
Community Bonds: The laughter and storytelling that happen around the craft table are just as important as the art itself.
The results were truly spectacular! Using vibrant purples, pinks, and golds, our residents created unique symbols of faith that are now brightening our hallways. Seeing the pride on their faces as they showed off their finished work is a reminder of why our Oak Lane community is such a special place to call home.
At St. Monica’s Senior Living, we strive to offer a holistic approach to care that nourishes the mind, body, and soul. We invite you to stop by and see the beautiful Easter decorations currently gracing our community!
Wishing you a blessed and creative Easter season from all of us at St. Monica’s.
